๐Ÿ–๏ธ Beach Essentials & Packing Checklist

Don't forget a thing on beach day

Heading to the Emerald Coast? The sand is sugar-white, the water is emerald, and the sun is real. Before you walk the plank (or the boardwalk), grab the gear that turns a good beach day into a great one. Below is our full checklist, grouped by what you need, from shade and seating to sunscreen and the little things that actually upgrade the day.

โ˜€๏ธ Sun protection

  • Broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+). Reapply every 80 minutes and after swimming. Reef-safe is a nice bonus for the Gulf.
  • Sunglasses (polarized). A glare-cutting pair helps you spot flags and jellyfish.
  • Sun hat or visor. Shade for your face that won't blow off in the sea breeze.
  • Rash guard / UPF shirt, especially for kids who'll be in and out of the water all day.

๐Ÿงด Sunscreen & skin picks

Broad-spectrum SPF 30+

Water-resistant, reef-friendly, easy to reapply. Stock more than you think you need for a family.

After-sun aloe

Keep it chilled in the cooler. It's the fastest fix for an over-sunned day.

Facial sunscreen stick

No mess, fits in a pocket, easy on kids.

โ›ฑ๏ธ Shade, seating & comfort

  • Beach umbrella. A vented, tilting one with an anchor, because this is the Emerald Coast and wind happens.
  • Pop-up canopy / tent. Great for families, instant shade for sandcastles and naps.
  • Beach chairs. Low-back sport chairs sit closer to the sand and handle the wind better than tall ones.
  • Beach towel, oversized, quick-dry, and ideally sand-resistant.
  • Beach blanket / mat. A weighted, sand-free woven blanket keeps the wind from ruining lunch.
  • Beach wagon. Haul chairs, the cooler, and the kids in one trip. A real day-saver on a long walk.

๐ŸงŠ Keep it cool & dry

  • Insulated cooler. A rotomolded one keeps drinks cold and sand out.
  • Reusable water bottles. Hydrate more than you think, the Gulf sun sneaks up on you.
  • Dry bag for phones, keys, and cameras. Sand and salt water are ruthless.
  • Waterproof phone pouch. A lanyard pouch means your phone survives the splash zone.

๐Ÿ›Ÿ Safety & beach-day extras

  • Water shoes. They protect your feet from hot sand and stingrays, and hey, do the "stingray shuffle" too.
  • First-aid kit with band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and a little aloe.
  • Floats & pool noodles for the calm, shallow Gulf water.
  • Wet wipes & hand sanitizer for sticky fingers and sand. You're welcome.
