The short answer
Inlet Beach is the easternmost beach town on Scenic Highway 30A, in Walton County, Florida, where 30A meets US Highway 98 on the Walton/Bay county line. Its free public beach access is the Inlet Beach Regional Beach Access, the largest county access in South Walton: 117 parking spaces, three dune walkovers, restrooms, outdoor showers, ADA boardwalk and parking, seasonal lifeguards, and free beach wheelchairs in season. It is the quietest and lowest-density of 30A's beach towns, and a 5-minute drive to Rosemary Beach and 20 minutes to Panama City Beach.

🏖️ What Inlet Beach is actually like
There's a reason people who know 30A keep drifting east. Inlet Beach is where the road runs out of towns and just gives you beach. The regional access is the biggest county access on the whole corridor, 13 acres of sand and 117 free parking spots, and on a Tuesday morning in October you can stand at the top of the dune walkover and count maybe three other people. In the summer it's a different animal, the lot's full before nine and families are hauling wagons down the boardwalk, but even then it feels calmer than Seaside or Rosemary.
What makes it strange and good is what's next door. Lake Powell sits on the north side of 98, a coastal dune lake roughly 800 acres, one of the rarest kinds of water on earth. When the outfall opens, Gulf water slips into the lake and you get that odd mix of salt and fresh. Camp Helen sits on the lake's south shore, a former textile-mill company camp from 1945 that the state turned into a park, four bucks a car, open sunrise to sunset. Walk the boardwalk under the live oaks, and it's easy to forget you're twenty minutes from Panama City Beach. The town itself is small and mostly houses, with 30Avenue's restaurants and shops at the light on 98. Come for the quiet. Stay for the sunset over the lake.

Where do you park for Inlet Beach?
The lot at 303 W Park Place Ave, reached from US 98 via South Orange Street. If it is full, the neighborhood accesses at Wall Street and Winston Lane are walk-overs with no parking of their own, so plan on the regional lot.
Does Inlet Beach have lifeguards?
Yes, seasonal. South Walton Fire District lifeguards staff the regional access during the season, alongside the flag pole. Check the flag before you swim; Inlet faces more open Gulf than the protected 30A towns to the west.
Are dogs allowed on Inlet Beach?
Yes, with a Walton County beach dog permit on the collar, on a leash, and only between 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. Keep dogs off the dunes. This is Walton County rules, not Okaloosa, where dogs are largely kept off the sand.

Is Inlet Beach the same as Rosemary Beach?
No. Rosemary Beach is a separate planned town immediately west of Inlet Beach. Inlet is the county beach with free public access; Rosemary is a dense walkable village with its own private beach frontage.
