๐Ÿ’ก Beach Tips

Make every beach day a great one

Little choices make a huge difference on a Gulf beach day, from when to go and what to bring to how to stay safe. These are the practical tips we'd tell a friend heading to Destin, Sandestin, or the 30A coast.

โฐ Timing

  • Go early or late. The middle of the day has the strongest UV and the hottest sand. Late afternoon is calmer and gentler on the kids.
  • Watch the tide & the wind. Check our forecast and the tide before you pick a spot.
  • Pick the right beach for you. Compare Destin, Miramar Beach, Sandestin, and 30A.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Staying safe

  • Read the flags first, every single visit. See what each flag means.
  • Never fight a rip current. Swim parallel to shore. Learn more on our rip currents page.
  • Do the stingray shuffle. Shuffle your feet in the shallows so you don't step on a ray.
  • Reapply sunscreen every 80 minutes and after swimming. Pack smart.
  • Mind the jellyfish. Most here are mild, some aren't. See our jellyfish guide.

๐ŸŽ’ Before you leave

  • Pack the night before using our beach essentials checklist.
  • Fill the cooler. Water first, then snacks. Cold water is the MVP.
  • Set a "sand exit" plan. Dry bags and a wagon make packing up painless.
  • Know the parking spot. Check beach parking so you're not circling at midday.
