The short answer
Miramar Beach is the westernmost beach community in Walton County, Florida, sitting just east of the Okaloosa County line and west of Sandestin. It is not Destin, though the two blur together. Miramar's public beach access comes from three Walton County regional accesses: Miramar Beach Regional Beach Access at 2375 Scenic Gulf Dr (138 spaces in the main lot plus 62 in the north lot), Scenic Gulf Drive Regional Beach Access at 907 Scenic Gulf Dr (18 standard and 9 low-speed-vehicle spaces), and Sand Trap neighborhood access at 253 Sand Trap Rd (no parking). All county parking is free. Miramar runs along Scenic Gulf Drive, the beach road parallel to US 98, with Seascape Resort, Majestic Sun, and The Big Chill in the middle of it.

🏖️ What Miramar Beach is actually like
Miramar is the part of this coast that works for people who don't want to think about parking. Three county accesses, all free, one of them with 200 spots. That is unusual for the Emerald Coast, and it's the single most practical thing about the area. You can pull in at 2375 Scenic Gulf Drive, walk a short boardwalk, and be on the sand in five minutes. On a July Saturday you'll still hunt for a space, but you're hunting in a 200-space lot, not circling a neighborhood.
The other thing people get wrong is the county line. Miramar feels like Destin and it isn't. It's Walton County, which means Walton's dog rules, Walton's flags, Walton's free parking, and Walton's beach ordinance. Cross Scenic Gulf Drive a mile west and you're in Okaloosa, where the rules change. Locals know the difference; most visitors don't. The Big Chill sits in the middle of Miramar with food trucks and a stage, and it's the closest thing the area has to a town square.
