๐Ÿคฟ Snorkeling

Gin-clear Gulf water

The Emerald Coast's water is so clear that snorkeling is an easy, low-effort treat. You don't need a big boat trip to see fish, a lot of it is right off the beach or a short paddle out.

๐ŸŒŸ Where to go

  • Artificial reefs. Our reef guide covers the spots that pull in fish close to shore.
  • Calm mornings. Flat, clear water after a calm stretch is the best window, check the forecast.
  • Shore spots. Some of the Okaloosa Island and Destin beaches have decent shore snorkeling close in.
  • Guided reef cruises. A few well-reviewed operators run snorkel trips to gulf reefs and shallow spots, great for first-timers.

A few real operators: Destin Snorkel Tours (guided Emerald Coast snorkel cruises) and Just Chute Me (snorkeling trips alongside parasailing) both run out of the Destin area and have strong reviews. Check current schedules and book ahead in season.

๐Ÿ  What you'll see

Small gulf fish, the occasional stingray and, if you're on the reefs, a whole community of sea life. Keep hands to yourself and give wildlife space, see our wildlife guide.
