Santa Rosa Beach is the name that confuses everybody. People book a rental in "Santa Rosa Beach" and arrive in Seagrove, or Grayton, or Blue Mountain, because the ZIP code said Santa Rosa. It isn't a town; it's a postal area that swallowed half of 30A. The actual Santa Rosa Beach stretch, from Dune Allen through Blue Mountain to Grayton, is where 30A gets its reputation for high dunes. Blue Mountain is the tallest point on the corridor, and the sand back there is almost blinding at noon.
The beach here is the widest and quietest stretch on 30A, but the accesses are small. Ed Walline's 39 spaces go fast in summer, and Gulfview Heights' 22 go faster. Unlike Destin, none of it costs money. That's the trade: free parking, fewer spots, more walking. Come early or come off-season, and this is the best stretch on the coast.
